Ishrat Memon

Mrs. Ishrat Memon is a minority woman business owner and child care professional.  She holds a Master of Arts degree in education and currently owns and directs the operations for several child care centers in the Washington metropolitan area.  Serving over five hundred children daily she has demonstrated a true testament of her dedication and commitment to this profession.  She employs more than seventy women, many of whom share similar stories as to how they became child care professionals.

After working at several area child care facilities, Mrs. Memon advanced from a teacher’s assistant to a director’s position.  Her expertise and knowledge qualifies her as a consultant and she was instrumental in the opening of several prominent area child cares including Judy’s Day Care, Greenway Infant Care, National Archives II Child Care Center and Quality Time Early Learning Center II. 

In 1995, Mrs. Memon gained ownership of three (3) locations of CHILDWAY Early Learning Center.  She leads the helm of the Burtonsville location as director and is a highly recognized quality care provider under the Maryland Excels standards of excellence. 

Mrs. Memon has recently taken on several new ventures related to the community and child care advocacy on both a local and national focus.  She is well versed in her support for growth, empowerment and opportunities for advancement of women in this country. In 2016, Governor Larry Hogan presented Mrs. Ishrat Memon with the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for her many years of dedication and commitment as an entrepreneur in the child care industry and community. 

Mrs. Memon lives in Laurel Maryland. She recently celebrated forty-five years of marriage to her soulmate and husband Abdul-Karim.  When she is not busy ensuring the safety and education of the children her centers serve, she’s enjoying quality time with her son and grand-daughters.
