Executive Director of the Social Services Administration (SSA)

Dr. Alger M. Studstill, Jr. leads the Social Services Administration (SSA). He brings extensive experience in child welfare and a commitment to public service to SSA’s operations and community-centered policies. His key goals include reducing out-of-home care entries, achieving timely permanency, addressing racial disparities, and fostering a kin-first culture. Dr. Studstill most recently served as Deputy Director of Protection and Safety for Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services.

A graduate of Florida A&M University (BBA) and Northcentral University (MBA, DBA), Dr. Studstill is also an adjunct professor and active in equity-focused organizations such as Black Administrators in Child Welfare and Co-Chair of the Child Welfare League of America’s Racial Equity Committee. Dr. Studstill is also the Vice-Chair of the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators, an affinity group within the American Public Human Services Association.
