Holiday Annnouncement 2024

A message From the Secretary

#TeamDHS,

This weekend, Governor Moore declared Christmas Eve a state holiday. In doing so, Governor Moore shared, “Our state employees have worked tirelessly all year long ensuring that Maryland is safer, more affordable, more competitive and the state that serves. We hope that all of our incredible public servants across the state can take a much-needed day to be with their loved ones this holiday season.”

Tuesday, December 24, 2024, is now a state holiday and all state government agencies and offices will be closed.

December 24th will be coded as a holiday in Workday. Therefore, as with other holidays, team members will not enter work time on that date. Should you serve in a role that requires you to work on December 24th, please add the work hours on your timesheet and you will be awarded compensatory time on an hour-for-hour basis for the hours worked.

If you have any questions about the completion of your timesheet, please contact the HRIS System Support Team at dhs.sps@maryland.gov.

As I shared in my recent message, thank your service and for all you do for so many. Happy holidays!

In service,

Rafael López
Secretary
