Executive Director of the Family Investment Administration (FIA)

Augustin leads the Family Investment Administration (FIA), bringing over 20 years of experience in supporting children and families. Under his leadership, FIA launched the SUN Bucks program, providing food assistance to over 586,000 children—six times more than in previous years. He also helped restore $28 million in stolen benefits to 43,000 Maryland families in the past year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Augustin secured over $3 billion in federal funds for Maryland’s Pandemic EBT program and guided FIA through its recovery process. In addition to his extensive background in public benefits administration, Augustin is a seasoned expert in designing and implementing workforce development programs aimed at helping recipients achieve long-term economic self-sufficiency.

During his career, Augustin served as a case manager, Deputy Executive Director at the International Rescue Committee, and Director of Maryland’s Office for Refugees and Asylees. Augustin’s dedication to empowering families, shaping policy, and advocating for Marylanders exemplifies his commitment to public service.
