Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)/ My Groceries To Go!
About My Groceries To Go!
CSFP, also known as My Groceries To Go!, reduces food insecurity for seniors through monthly food packages. The program helps seniors avoid having to choose between putting healthy food on the table and other necessities like paying for medicine or rent. By ensuring seniors have access to healthy food, the program further reduces costly hospitalizations and nursing home stays.
Participants can pick up their monthly My Groceries To Go! package through a food bank or other local sponsor, have an authorized designee pick up their food package, or, in some communities, have food packages delivered directly to their home.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funds the food packages that states distribute through local agencies. The monthly food package is valued at approximately $50, and the number of seniors served depends on available funding.
The Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) is the My Groceries To Go! administering agency in Maryland and contracts with the Salvation Army, Capital Area Food Bank, and Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission to serve eligible seniors.
