Tazeen Ahmad

Tazeen Ahmad is the Chief Financial Officer at a bipartisan government relations firm in Washington, D.C., where she oversees the firm’s financial strategy, planning, analysis, reporting, auditing, compliance, and banking relationships. Tazeen has been a lifelong advocate of issues of importance to women, and over the years has worked in leadership positions with many nonprofit organizations that serve women and children. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Interfaith Works, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Montgomery County, MD, that provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs to over 35,000 residents annually. In November 2024, she was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to the Maryland Commission for Women.

In additional to her nonprofit work, Tazeen is deeply involved in Maryland politics. As president of the Montgomery County Women’s Democratic Club (WDC), one of the state’s largest and most influential Democratic organizations, she works to educate voters on key local, state, and national issues, with a focus on policies impacting women and families. She is a founding member of the Maryland Equal Rights Action Network (MERAN), which led successful advocacy efforts for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in Maryland, culminating in its passage through the Maryland
General Assembly in 2024.

In 2019, Tazeen co-founded the Up 2 Us Foundation with her daughter, Marium. From 2019-2022, the Maryland-based nonprofit addressed food insecurity in Maryland and Washington, D.C. and was recognized for its efforts to support families impacted by COVID-19. In recognition of her work at Up 2 Us, Tazeen was named one of the Maryland Commission for Women’s 100 Maryland Sheroes in 2020.

Tazeen served as a commissioner on the Montgomery County Commission for Women from 2018 to 2021, co-chairing the 2020 Women’s Legislative Briefing and contributing to gender equity policy initiatives. She has also chaired the Victim Services Advisory Board (VSAB), where she gained valuable insights into the challenges facing victims of crime, particularly those related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and the criminal justice system.

Tazeen holds a B.A. in political science and a master’s in journalism. She resides in Potomac, Maryland, with her family.
