The Family Investment Administration here at Charles County champions the theme “Stronger Together” by joining forces with other agencies and community support to improve and support accessibility. Our commitment to the constituents of Charles County is showcased through this effort to support each other with the necessary knowledge transfers as we strive to comply and redefine our service to the community in all programs. We are committed to the Maryland Customer Service promise of modeling Gold Standard behavior, providing friendly and courteous supportive services, and authorizing timely and accurate benefits.

We are proud to have graduated over 100 fathers from our Fatherhood Initiative, who have commityed to supporting their families by building better relationships, thus building stronger families. Our PA2E program continues to grow as we launch a new generation of business owners and creative thinkers. Their creative plans and ideas are transformative processes in actions as we witness thoughts become a reality in their effort to be community partners and providers independent of services.

Like other jurisdictions, the pandemic hit our constituents hard; however, our Emergency Assistance Team in conjunction with other staff continues to answer the call for help when and where needed. With increased funding for utility subsidies, emergency assistance allotments, and employment programs, Charles County DSS has provided our community with over 40,000 in financial support during the pandemic crisis.

Our agency continues to come up with innovative ways to meet the needs of our community. We are especially excited to launch a new transportation initiative this Spring that connects youth and their families. We provide steadfast support and encouragement for customers receiving Temporary Cash Assistance to help them find gainful employment and realize long-held hopes and dreams for their families.

Here at, Charles County DSS, we are excited about the future as we use data, consumer services, and personal support to re-engage our commitment to champion ourselves and others in this work to serve the needs of our community.
