Appreciation for our Garrett County DSS staff runs deep as our FIA family continues to grow and exceed all expectations. We have designed an intense internal training program to supplement the training process, resulting in the retention of 15 contractual workers with an eye to hiring many more qualified workers.

Our dedication and commitment to serving Marylanders is strong, too. Garrett County DSS’s FIA division partnered with its sister agency in Allegany County to process and reimburse EBT Fraud transactions that were stolen from adults and families residing in all 24 jurisdictions. We have now hired and retained 23 contractual workers. While this project has been challenging for a small agency, every single staff person has played an important role in processing the replacement benefits or taking on extra duties to maintain the momentum with all of our other FIA programs. It takes a village, and we are proud of our accomplishments.

We embrace each day with the goal of making a difference in the lives of those we assist. We not only serve our customers, but we serve and support each other in the wake of many personal trials and tribulations this past year. We take pride in our Gold-Star customer service and the quality of our casework. It’s exciting to see our growth and to see each person achieve their potential.
