WICOMICO COUNTY

Perhaps that is the real accomplishment—perseverance. We’ve worked together to overcome internal and external challenges. Last year, our division had a 25% vacancy rate. The department experienced a change in leadership and a drastic reduction in the number of supervisors it employed as our workers learned to adapt to new systems and processes. No matter how daunting the situation – our staff has risen to every challenge, answered every call, and encouraged each other to continue to provide a Gold-standard of customer service to the residents of Wicomico County.

Our staff has given their time and effort beyond the average workday to ensure that our customer needs are promptly met. They strive to engage our customers wherever they may be found – at community events, parking lots, grocery stores, churches, and on city streets.

We believe that the Wicomico County DSS is more than just a building made of stone. It’s a living, fluid entity that moves into empty spaces and fulfills the unmet needs of the community. We exist to support county residents in ways that they cannot support themselves. The FIA staff of Wicomico County DSS is a testament to that responsibility and exemplifies what it means to be a public servant.

I appreciate the hard work that our FIA staff put in – day in and day out. I appreciate the effort they give to help ensure the welfare and well-being of the residents of Wicomico County. I also appreciate the contributions they make to the overall culture of the Wicomico County DSS. Most importantly, I appreciate their humanity, their grace, and their courage. I could not ask for a finer group of individuals to serve in this agency.
