D. Kaprece James

D. Kaprece James has been a resident of Charles County for 3 years and was appointed in March 2022 as a Commissioner to the Maryland Commission for Women. Ms. James is also the current Vice Chair of the Charles County Commission for Women.

Ms. James wears many hats as she is a social entrepreneur, founder & CEO, advocate for women & girls, humanitarian, best-selling author, retired Marine spouse, and an international leader. She is a proud graduate of Savannah State University with a BS in Political Science, has a Master’s in Public Administration with a specialty in Nonprofit Management & Leadership, and is a doctoral candidate with a focus on Public Policy and Administration. Ms. James is the Founder and CEO of Stella’s Girls, Incorporated, a 501(c)3 nonprofit and international nongovernmental organization with chapters in Liberia and Sierra Leone that focuses on the empowerment and leadership development of girls and women across seven countries. Ms. James also owns DKJ Global Consulting that provides executive coaching for international organizations, small business owners and nonprofits.

Ms. James is a community activist and has been serving her local communities for over 30 years. She holds several Board of Director and Advisor positions both locally and internationally. In October 2020 she was elected as the Vice Chair for the Diaspora for the largest African women’s organization in Africa, FEMNET (the African Women’s Development and Communication Network). Ms. James is also an elected officer of the Tri-County MD Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; Southern Maryland Chain (MD) Chapter of The Links Incorporated; and The Charles County Branch of the NAACP. Ms. James has received numerous awards for her work locally, nationally, and internationally.

Ms. Kaprece James lives with her husband Major Rodney James and their two fur babies in Charles County, MD.
