Maryland Young Women Leaders Awards
The Maryland Young Women Leaders Awards was established in 1997 to recognize and to honor extraordinary young women who have demonstrated a commitment to leadership, community service and academic excellence. Nominations are received from educators, individuals, organizations and civic, community and religious leaders from across the state. An independent committee representing a cross section of the state reviews all the nominations and makes the very difficult decision of selecting the honorees. This year, five honorees were selected from among the 79 nominees from middle schools and high schools, representing 20 of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City, and 56 different schools.
