Wells Fargo Bank Transition
General Questions
Starting June 2, 2025, the Child Support Administration (CSA) will be transferring the processing of all child support payments from Bank of America to Wells Fargo Bank. This means that the child support payments you send or receive will now be handled through Wells Fargo Bank.
Employers
Starting June 2, 2025, employers who send child support payments by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) will now send those payments through Wells Fargo Bank to the Maryland State Disbursement Unit (SDU).
Please note: This change will only impact employers who have set up EFT payments with their respective banks. This will not impact employers who have enrolled in this process through the Maryland Child Support Administration’s portal.
If you currently send child support payments via EFT, please use the new payment instructions and new routing and account numbers we will send to you for Wells Fargo Bank. This will ensure your payments are sent to the right place.
To ensure there are no gaps in payments received, it is important that the correct information is updated by you, the employer.

Noncustodial Parents (NCPs)
Starting June 2, 2025, noncustodial parents who currently pay child support via Electronic Funds Transfer will send their child support payments through Wells Fargo Bank to the State Disbursement Unit.
- If your child support payments are automatically withdrawn via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), please share the new Wells Fargo routing and account number you will receive in the mail with your employer, and kindly ask your employer to update their records.
- If you pay by check, please continue to send your checks to:

If your employer is remitting your payment by way of check, no action is needed
- Refunds to noncustodial parents or payers will now be issued as a check by Wells Fargo (previously issued by Bank of America).
Custodial Parents (CPs)
Starting June 2, 2025, the child support payments you receive will come from Wells Fargo Bank instead of Bank of America.
- If you get your payments by direct deposit or a prepaid debit card, you don’t need to do anything.
- If you get your payments by check, your checks will now come from Wells Fargo Bank.
- If you still have or receive a check from Bank of America, it will be honored for 90 days from the date on the check. Please note that any check not cashed from Bank of America after 90 days will be considered “Stale Dated” and must be reissued by CSA to you. The new check will be written from Wells Fargo.
You may cash your check at any of the approved State of Maryland Designated Depositories for State Agency Funds. There is no fee associated with cashing a check at these locations.
